Description

I penned this right after a relationship that happened abroad and was always meant to be short term.
At the point in time where my feelings started to develop the girl in question flew home and the empty feeling was helped by writing a song that suggested it may not be the end. It served as a sticking plaster and I am pleased with the form of the song as a whole composition.

Bio

Scratching the creative itch is something else and if you are able to write songs, you should try.

I play Bass firstly and guitar. My voice has developed through performance.

Hit with ABBA and Beatles melodies at an early age, melody and harmony became hardwired in. My years of experience of performance has certainly leant itself to my compositions. At 50, for the first time, have compiled my song demos, some recent, some from as far back as university where I obtained a degree in Pop Music. I wanted to do this to dedicate to my three children.
This submission is one example from my album, ‘Poptoprog’ named as my style includes varying degrees of Pop through to more progressive music.
I have served my time (so far!) and I would appreciate any feedback or comments and thanks for the opportunity.

Lyrics

Well I know the gap between us is too wide
But there’s still just a piece of you inside
Memories of a golden time we shared
Do you still remember, do you even care?

‘Till another day
The memories fade away…

Many times I thought of moving on
Playing out the rhythm with a different drum

So here’s a glass of wine
To further down the line…

Waiting for Fate
Never’s too late
Forever I wait
It’s hard to read the wall
But the writing says it all

The air and space between us seems so vast
Will ever lasting seasons come to pass?
The longing leaves an empty open void
Float around in space, a lonely asteroid

So play the waiting game
I’ll hang on to your name…

They say the gap between us is too wide
But I’m still here keeping you inside
Turn another page now close your eyes
And listen to your heart now through the great divide

I’ll hold you once again
Hang on to your name…

Waiting for you
will it come true
forever be blue
Holding on and on
When all’s not said and done
