Bio
Ann Arbor, Michigan, Emmy-winning songwriter Kitty Donohoe is celebrating 50 years in show business with no signs of slowing down! In May 2024 she commemorated the five decades with a concert at the Ark in Ann Arbor, calling it ‘Alive & Unscathed ~ Celebrating 50 Years as a Songwriter’, joined onstage by a host of her musician friends from the past and present. It was a very memorable and joyfilled night, during which she was also presented with the 2024 Michigan Heritage Award for her 30+ years of promoting the history and culture of Michigan through her original songs.
Long admired for her eclectic songwriting, in 2022 she recieved three nods from the prestigious Great American Song Contest ~ one for Song Finalist and two for Oustanding Achievement as a Songwriter. Calling her music ‘folky, Irishy & Canadianish,’ Kitty draws from her heritage in the music she creates, whether songs or instrumentals. Backing herself on guitar, cittern and piano, Kitty’s stunning three octave voice delivers each song like it’s the first time it’s been sung. Her yearly trips to Ireland and Scotland have also been the source of many new songs, most written by the end of each trip!
In 2002 Kitty was awarded a Michigan Emmy for her 9/11 song ‘There Are No Words,’ that was played around the world, was used in an indie film about the Pentagon 9/11 experience and she was invited to sing it at the dedication of the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial on September 11, 2008.
Kitty’s newest release is ‘A Murder of Crows’, a collection of instrumentals she has previously recorded.

Lyrics
it’s a crazy crazy world that we are living in
when getting older is the great unforgiveable sin
the young ones are coming they’re around us everywhere
with their smooth skin, perky bosoms and their big shiny hair
well, talk about voluptuous talk about size
hey girls ~ try these on for thighs
we are hard~working women and we like our luxuries
like a dry martini, good bread and some decadent cheese
forget the fat grams, they’re not worth thinking of
and you need to have some ‘oomph’ when push comes to shove
so bring on the lettuce but we might eat the fries
hey girls ~ try these on for thighs
doctor doctor put the Botox away
it’s wine and chocolate that we crave today
we know it sticks to our belly and our derriere
but we need sugar and we don’t care!
beep beep bee beep yeah!
we’ve been up, down, over, under and through
with all that pain and love and life can do
instead of drowning we learned we can float
’cause we read and we think and we earn and we spend
AND WE VOTE!
girls pay attention, keep your eye on the prize
we’re all in this together ~ try these on for thighs
try these on for thighs
