Description
Everyone has their own pandemic inspired song. Time Escaped is mine. Missing my family, especially my 89-year-old father was heartbreaking. I lost time with him.
Bio
Annie Wells is a Rochester NY based musician. Annie’s music draws on the Great American Songbook, jazz, and singer-songwriter genres she grew up listening to. The result is not exactly jazz and not quite traditional pop, but rather, a mix of all the music she loves. Her lyrics pull you into her world: everything that moves and inspires her. Annie’s voice is often described as beautiful and ethereal. She has been compared to Joni Mitchell, Blossom Dearie, Julee Cruise, Holly Cole and Aimee Mann.
She performs with some of the most renowned musicians in the Finger Lakes region of New York State including Mike Kaupa, trumpet (Glenn Miller Orchestra, Joe Lock, Ray Charles), Dave Arenius, upright bass (Herb Ellis, Archie Shepp), Phil Marshall, guitar (Colorblind James, LaLaLand), Tony Hiler, drums (Hannah and the Blue Hearts, Gian Carlo Cervone).
On her most recent record, “Lonely Hearts Club”, Wells features a song about the Hitchcock character, Miss Lonely Hearts, a touching sub-plot about a woman seeking love in the movie “Rear Window”. Her efforts to connect having failed and in despair, Miss Lonely Hearts nearly swallows a bottle of pills, until she hears a beautiful song from a window above written by a lonely man. In the end, they are together.
“Music saved Miss Lonely Hearts, music saves me, always”, Wells says.

Lyrics
I lost time quiet as a whisper
She slipped through my fingers
Time is cruel, she’ll try to fool you
Time is cruel, she’ll try to rule you
The clock stopped and time escaped
And the moon has lost it’s way
What did I Miss When time was sleeping?
What did I miss when I was dreaming?
Dreaming of you
Far away and reaching through
Through the looking glass
Waiting for this to pass
Guitar solo
I can’t wait to see you again
We’ll make memories then
Time was a thief, she took you away
We’ll be together someday
The clock stopped and time escaped
And the moon has lost it’s way
She slipped through my fingers
Time is cruel, she’ll try to fool you
Time is cruel, she’ll try to rule you
The clock stopped and time escaped
And the moon has lost it’s way
What did I Miss When time was sleeping?
What did I miss when I was dreaming?
Dreaming of you
Far away and reaching through
Through the looking glass
Waiting for this to pass
Guitar solo
I can’t wait to see you again
We’ll make memories then
Time was a thief, she took you away
We’ll be together someday
The clock stopped and time escaped
And the moon has lost it’s way
