Description
After my girlfriend got drunk and told me a story about a conversation that she’d had with her daughter about me, when she had no recollection of the conversation the next day, I wrote this song about her.

Lyrics
Verse 1:
You had a couple glasses, now you’re feeling bold,
You’re telling me I’m perfect, like I’ve never been told.
But honey, there’s a part of me that’s aching inside,
‘Cause I want those words when there’s no bottle to hide.
Pre-Chorus:
Yeah, I love the way you say it, with that whiskey on your breath,
But there’s something in my heart that won’t let me rest.
Chorus:
So, tell me when you’re sober, when the night is clear,
Whisper those sweet words when there’s no buzz in your ear.
I wanna know it’s real, not just the wine you hold,
Baby, tell me when you’re sober, that’s the love I need to know.
Verse 2:
You call me your everything, your rock and your man,
But sometimes I wonder, is it you or the gin?
I’m here for the good times, and the bad ones too,
But I need to know that it’s really me loving you.
Pre-Chorus:
Yeah, I hear the truth in every slurred word you speak,
But I wanna feel it strong, not when you’re feeling weak.
Chorus:
So, tell me when you’re sober, when the night is clear,
Whisper those sweet words when there’s no buzz in your ear.
I wanna know it’s real, not just the wine you hold,
Baby, tell me when you’re sober, that’s the love I need to know.
Bridge:
Maybe in the morning, when the sun is shining bright,
You’ll look into my eyes and say you feel it right.
No glasses to lean on, no shots to make it true,
Just the honest kind of love that comes from me and you.
Chorus:
So, tell me when you’re sober, when the night is clear,
Whisper those sweet words when there’s no buzz in your ear.
I wanna know it’s real, not just the wine you hold,
Baby, tell me when you’re sober, that’s the love I need to know.
Outro:
Yeah, tell me when you’re sober, when it’s just you and me,
That’s the love I’m waiting for, that’s the truth I need to see.
