Description
This song relentlessly demanded that I write it down. It’s a release about the loss of my duo partner, companion, soulmate husband of 26 years. We wrote, performed and harmonized togther…and he battled bi-polar disorder and other mental challenges that made our years together very interesting, to say the least. It would truly make for a good movie! Soundtrack and music included as our lyrics reflected our love, turmoil and struggles. It was an interesting journey together filled with triumph and tragedies. My bio is of us together to set it up. Gary moved on to his next gig on April 23rd, 2023. Just 2 days before his 69th birthday.
Bio
New Rain
New Rain may call the Great Smoky Mountains of Gatlinburg, TN home, but their music will take you on an acoustical journey through Folk, Rock, Blues and Classic Country.
Having shared the stage with or opened for Gregg Allman, Three Dog Night, Blood, Sweat & Tears and Lacy J. Dalton, Gary’s own “locomotive” style on his black , Guild 12-string, is soulfully suited to his smoky voice.
Blended with Jane’s pure, dynamic vocals and harmonies, they are truly a magical duo whose style would be described as “seasoned folk-infused rock with acoustic sonority and heavy vocal harmonies”. With 8 cds of originals, it is exhilarating and refreshing to hear music styles we’ve grown up with and “rocked us through the ages”, still embracing us today in their lyrics and melodies.
They have played mostly in the southeastern US but have played in Lake Tahoe, CA, Jerome, Az at the Spirit Room and several appearances at Top of the Rock in Phoenix, AZ. They have performed in Europe in Mallorca, Spain and Scotland as well. They played at the international Edinburgh Festival and several gigs in Dundee and Carnoustie.
To sum it all up and borrowing a previous description of Gary and Jane Morris, “The combination of both voices together creates a seamless harmony that fits every song like a glove.” That is…..New Rain

Lyrics
STANDING IN THE RAIN (Jane e Morris 10/23/2023)
Did you ever feel what life was like, on my side of you?
As I tried to feel your pain within
And struggles you went through
Your songs so sweetly written
Of love you felt so deep
And of your true devotion
And vows you meant to keep
CHORUS
I saw it coming long before,
Like a whistle, warning of a train
But somehow I just couldn’t leave the storm
And kept standing in the Rain
What happened deep inside of you
When your eyes grew cold and dark?
And you unleashed that raging anger
That shattered our breaking hearts
CHANGE
A captured prisoner of by-polar pain
Riding full throttle on that clear bottle train
We both kept fighting for things to change
But just couldn’t shake the demons and chains
Your name remains a song on my lips
That look in your eye never parts
The music we shared, made me know how you cared
While harmonies blended our hearts
CHORUS…OUT (with variations)
I (we) saw it coming long before
Like a whistle warning of a train
But somehow I (we) just couldn’t run from the storm
And kept standing……In the Rain
