The slow decline of a once healthy relationship

Bio

I began playing guitar at age 11. Formed garage bands with friends in middle and high school. Played gigs in college. Received some college radio airplay and music was featured in a compilation of NC bands in the ’90’s. About 15 years ago, I sold all my instruments and recording equipment save for my Strat and Fender Twin and didn’t play or write for about 10 years. I picked it back up in 2021 during Covid and my wife’s cancer battle. I’ve been writing ever since. My debut EP “Coastal Chase” launches 01/15/2025 and features performances by members of Third of Never, The Veldt, and The Mayflies (USA).

Lyrics

Dreams of yesterday
Watch them slip away
Which one of us has changed?
You don’t need me
But you won’t leave me
So we spend our days

Waiting of the rain to fall
I can’t breathe at all
Feels like we’re drowning
Dying embers in the dark
Fail to make a spark
In the house of cards we’ve made

Reigning drama queen
Bored with her docile king
A pair that can’t win anything
A slow fall after such a high
Fracturing the perfect lie
So why can’t we just let it die?

  1. Love this style and production John!
You never should have stopped though, but I do of course accept and respect that your wife would have been your priority.
    Great song..very well done!
