Lyrics

saw my high school sweetheart,
after 50 years time
she’d lost her spouse,
and I’d lost mine

we dined, danced,
and walked the beach
sure enough,
she’s still a peach

I asked her to marry me,
that moonlit night
she said “yes”,
like I hoped she might

I took her home,
and went back to my hotel room
knowing we would,
be married soon

morning couldn’t recall,
what she said though
was it “yes”,
or was it “no”

decided to call,
and ask
if she was still up,
for the task

“glad you called, she said
I remembered saying yes in the dune,
but I couldn’t remember,
to whom”
