Description
A song about a love triangle. Whenever I work with or listen to this song I think of Ducky from Pretty in Pink, although I did not write the song specifically from that character. I came up with the chorus hook and the rest of the song kind of wrote itself.
Bio
Darren Lee Richardson is an East Bay, California musician/singer/songwriter for several decades.
He has been a front man for several hard rock bands such as Rockhenge, The Cyberphonics, Rush Hour, Mankind and Aces Wild. His most recent band is a progressive hard rock band, Syne Wave (synewave.net) where they released their first album, Function Over Form, to much acclaim.
Currently, he spends much of his time writing hard rock and easy listening songs in his updated home studio. His new release Next We Rock, is a follow up to his previous album, From Another Time, continuing the path forward in his new studio configuration and instrumentation. It is the second of a planned series of quality reproductions of previous and new songs.
As opportunities arise, he collaborates with other musicians and songwriters on musical compositions and/or Internet band projects.

Just A Man

Have I been holding on for way too long
Do I embrace a world where I don’t belong
When your rainbows appear do I enter your mind
Am I only a thought when your sun doesn’t shine
As I bear all your tears one more last time
Am I your man… or just a man…
Have I relinquished all the love that I’ve known
Do I presume a world where I’m not alone
When your dreams are in view do you see me nearby
Am I only a wish when your tears will not dry
As I shoulder your fears one more last time
Am I your man… or just a man… just a man… just a man… just a man…
It’s late AM and you cry out once again
I won’t forsake you… no… I won’t forsake you yet again
And in the end when your life seems well again
You will forsake me… ohhh… you will surrender me again
Release me as I am… just a man
When you look here again you may find you’re alone
Cause I can’t carry on where the love is not known
I must bid you farewell one final time
am a man… just not your man…
