I am the only one who worked on this song. I wrote the song, came up with the music and also did the recording, mixing and mastering and CD cover design. I just finally recorded the song in 2024.

Description

I wrote this song because I was inspired to write a song that would be from the perspective of Jesus talking to us, explaining to us that He loves us and what He has already done for us.

Bio

As far back as I can remember, I loved music and singing. I can remember that as a very young child, about four or five years old, my dad and I would go into the parlor and listen to his records. He had an old Reel-to-Reel recorder and would record himself singing to the songs on those records. As I became older, he purchased a tape recorder and would invite me to sing with him, and he would record us singing together. When I was about ten years old, I received my first guitar as a birthday present from my parents. From that point on I enjoyed playing guitar and writing my own songs. Now, many years later, I have fulfilled a life-long dream and recorded, mixed and mastered my first song, “I DID THIS FOR YOU”.

Lyrics

I did this for you 12/20/03 By Robert Wilber

Verse 1 (Jesus talking to the unbeliever)
I can see and hear you
You’re down on your knees
Crying out to me, from the depths of your sin

Don’t want to live this way no more
Feel so hopeless and all alone
Just want someone to save you
To love you and lead you through

Chorus
Don’t you know that I love you
Don’t you know that I care about you
Don’t you know all that I went through
Don’t you know that I did this for you

Paid the price for your sin on the cross
My suffering, it saves the lost
Don’t ever doubt my love for you
Don’t you know that I did this for you

Bridge
The shame, pain and suffering
All for you
I died and rose again
All for you
I’ll come to take you home again (brief pause, then sing) I did this all for you

Verse 2 (Jesus talking to the new believer)
So now, you’ve accepted me into your heart
By faith you believe you have a new start
But then the doubt starts creeping in
Your past reminds you of your sin

But take courage my child, I’ll stay with you
I’ll never leave nor forsake you
My blood has washed your sins away
I’ll be by your side every day

Repeat Chorus/Bridge

Verse 3 (Jesus talking the weary believer)
I’ve seen your faithfullness all these years
I’ve walked with you through the blood, sweat and tears
As you fought the good fight of faith
My spirit lead you day by day

But now you’re feeling weary in your soul
The battles and struggles have left their toll
So come unto me my sweet child
Receive my peace and strength to carry on
Repeat Chorus/Bridge
