Lyrics
No ransom ever went that high
No fortune ever looked so dry
I know it all goes down at night
I know it breaks with the light…
Everything just begins and ends
In a circle you come back again
To a point where you never were
A single moment is just a blur…
So just, hold on, hold on, as time it grabs for your last dime
So just hold on, hold on, we still defend what we can’t define,
No Desert ever lost its sand
No ocean ever begged for land
No bird ever gave up flight
No blind man ever feared the night…
Are there things we can never touch?
If there is does it matter much?
I see tomorrow in a falling star
But yesterday feels so very far…
So just, hold on, hold on, as time it grabs for your last dime
So just hold on, hold on, we still defend what we can’t define…
The thicker ice feels like heavy stone, the weight of this I’ve just never known
The cloudy skies mix with summer haze, we watch the clock but just lose the days
So just, hold on, hold on, as time it grabs for your last dime
So just hold on, hold on, we still defend what we can’t define,
We understand it’s a one way street
With lots of stops that we can’t repeat
We hide from things that we never know
We look above when we’re here below…
We put it down to a circumstance
We never live if we take no chance
We pay it back from what we don’t own
What we are is just what we’ve sown…
So just, hold on, hold on, as time it grab for your last dime
So just hold on, hold on, we still defend what we can’t define…
The thicker ice feels like heavy stone, the weight of this I’ve just never known
