Description
I was fortunate to inherit my Grandfather’s old pickup truck. Although it is old and beat up now, I can still see my PaPaw driving it and remember all good times we had – so many good memories. And I will be soon be passing the old truck down to my son.
Bio
I began playing music at the age of five as the drummer in my father’s band. As I got older, I began to play drums for other acts. At the age of 20, I began playing the pedal steel guitar, having never taken a lesson in my life. Along with my sister, I began working with the Loretta Lynn Show and later moved to Nashville where I worked on the road for many stars. I have played with such notable acts as Gary Stewart, Johnny Paycheck, George Jones, Kitty Wells, Hank Thompson, Johnny Bush, and a host of others.

Grandpa’s Old Truck
Chorus
If my old truck could talk
The stories it would tell
Dad taught me to drive
And I gave that truck hell
It was a sore sight to see
And that truck meant the world to me
Grandpa gave it to Dad
And Dad gave it to me
The starter was on the floor
It had bondo on both doors
I had to use the clutch
Just to get her through the gears
It never failed to start
But sometimes a push would get us far
That old truck kept running
Despite all those years
I drove that truck to school
Man I thought I was so dang cool
My buddies riding in the back
Acting like a bunch of fools
Only AM radio
We got two stations if we took it slow
That Old Opry twangin’
Through the hills of those back roads
Repeat Chorus
My first date was in that old truck
She slid over right beside me
As we headed for the lake
I found the perfect spot
And that truck got boilin’ hot
Now I’ve come to know
Why Grandpa gave it to Dad
And Dad gave it to me
The luck that that truck had
They wanted me to see
How fun that truck could be
I had the best times of my life
In Grandpa’s old truck
Repeat Chorus
