I played guitar and sang the song. My friends Tony Mayo and Mike Bonanno recorded it in Mike’s home studio while they added lead guitar, piano, bass and backup vocals

Description

I think that most people have an old love from the past that asked for a second chance. This song is about having the resolve to not be fooled again.

Bio

I’ve been playing guitar and singing for most of my life. I started song writing in earnest about 10 years ago at the encouragement of some fellow artists. The majority of my songs are about past experiences or stories I have heard.
I then create videos to accompany the songs so folks have something to look at while they listen :)

Lyrics

Fool Me Once

I really thought you loved me
That you and I would last
And that we could get through anything
From the future or from the past
Then you turned and walked away
Without much reason why
I guess I could have tracked you down
But I’m not that kind of guy

I heard from you the other day
In a callout of the blue
You said that you were back in town
And did I still miss you
My heart jumped up into my throat
Like it used to do back then
But I don’t think I’ll let you
Put me though all that again

Chorus:
If I had a crystal ball that could
see into your heart
Would it show me just how
loving you could be
Or would it be a replay
of what happened way back when
Shame on you to fool me once
Fool me twice shame on me

Bridge:
It took a while for me to find myself again
I guess what doesn’t kill you
Can save you in the end

So I asked you not to call me
And please don’t come around
Because life’s about moving forward
And you’ll just slow me down
Don’t tell me that you changed
Because we both know that’s a lie
I never thought id say these words
But this is our last goodbye

Chorus
Repeat last line
