Description

Richard, Edgy’s bass player, wanted us and our partners/children to go up to Scotland in February to record at a remote house overlooking Loch Awe. Sarah, Pot and myself ummed and ahhed for about four months leading Richard to blurt out in humorous despair ‘Everyday I Die a Little’. I thought this was a great title for a song. I constructed it around personal stuff in my life which combined with the leap of faith that we all took when we finally agreed to go up to Scotland. It turned out to be a special, beautiful time. We recorded our album And/Awe there and afterwards I completed the lyrics to the song. They are slightly tongue in cheek and slightly bang on the money.

Bio

Edgy were formed in 2001 as an indie rock and roll band. They have been compared to early Blondie, the Pretenders and Teenage Fan Club. Singer Sarah Currant has a powerhouse vocal style that can sound like Shirley Bassey or Karen Carpenter depending on the song. Pot Blawat and Richard Holford provide the tightest rhythm section you could ask for. Generally Edgy’s style is Indie/Powerpop but they dip their toes into various genres. Their songs are written by guitarist and sometime vocalist Eddie Dyja.

Lyrics

I wear my heart, on my sleeve
Don’t say I’m not strong
I try to let you know how I feel
But still you get me all wrong

We’re so good at hiding our pain
It’s something we don’t want to show
Sometimes we take on our demons
Sometimes we can’t let them go

Everyday I die a little
and you know I do
(You know I do)
Every day I cry a little
and its because of you

Holding on to, raw emotions
No one captures my tears
I want you back, the way you were
But you’ve been gone for years

We’re told about moving forward
But sometimes we don’t want to know
Memories can last a lifetime
Sometimes we can’t let them go

Everyday I die a little
and you know I do
(You know I do)
Every day I cry a little
and its because of you x2

Yeah, you yeah, you

Everything, has been said
But still you tell me more
Stop the world I want to get off
To the place I was before

We were really so good back then
When the world lay before our feet
Without you how can I go on
When you know you make me complete

Everyday I die a little
and you know I do
(You know I do)
Every day I cry a little
and its because of you x2

Yeah, you yeah, you
