Description

My Mum always said it is darkest before dawn – this song is all about finding hope to overcome adversity, loss or despair – because Every Cloud has a Silver Lining. I first wrote it while gigging as a semi-pro band in the 80’s. It was always a cloud favourite with the pace and the sing along lyrics. I re-imagined it for 2024 with some nice Indie Rock and Retro vibes.

Lyrics

Well I can see for miles around
The weathers fine the sun has shine
And everything has turned out right
Every cloud you say, has a silver lining

For so long now the rain come down
For so long now we thought we’d drown
Until you said what turned out right
Every cloud has a silver lining
Every cloud has a silver lining

Weather man can say the truth, I don’t know
Whether changes last forever, all I know
Every cloud has a silver lining

Well for forty days and forty nights
I hardly slept I’d wake in fright
You were the calm you saw the light
Every cloud, you said, has a silver lining

Every cloud has a silver lining
