Description

I’m the proud father of three boys but have always wished I had a girl as well. A friend of mine remarked once many years ago on how he loved having girls and was amazed at the rapid transition they made between the ages of 3 and 6. He said, “One day they’re runny nosed toddlers and then it’s like magic, they turn into girls!”. And with that I wrote the song for him. (His girls by the way were named Dee Dee and Tara and I put their names into the ending of the song but it could be any names.)

Lyrics

“DON’T SAY NIGHTY NIGHT TO FAIRIES

Verse 1:
Once upon a time, long ago there lived two kids,
With sugar and spice and everything nice, they jumped the candlestick.

Verse 2:
And Mother Goose was alive, and Peter Pan, well he could fly,
And Little Jack Horner, he sat in his corner, and pulled a plum out from a pie.

Verse 3:
But soon those fairy tales got old, when you crossed that castle moat,
And looked back across at that mystical spot
And said waved goodbye on your own . . . so

Chorus 1:
Say nighty night to fairies, and dreams of unicorns in magic worlds,
You’re growing up so quick it seems like magic, cause my little ones are turning into girls!

Say nighty night to fairies, and dreams of unicorns in magic worlds,
You’re growing up so quick it seems like magic, cause my little ones are turning into girls!

Instrumental

Verse 4:
Now go to sleep and rest your minds, while I sing this lullaby,
You can grow up tomorrow a little bit more, but for now simply close your eyes

Verse 5:
Little ladies don’t let you, keep a little magic in your souls,
It’s just make believe but now everyone dreams, that’s what makes people grow . . . so

Chorus 2:
Don’t say nighty night to fairies, or dreams of unicorns in magic worlds,
You’re growing up so quick it seems like magic, cause my little ones are turning into girls!

Don’t say nighty night to fairies, or dreams of unicorns in magic worlds,
You’re growing up so quick it seems like magic, cause my little ones are turning into girls!
. . . cause my little ones are turning into girls!
. . . cause my little ones are turning into girls!
Dee Dee and Tara, it’s magic I swear . . . you’re girls!
