Description

I wrote this song for my aging and ailing father, who is suffering from Parkison’s disease and can no longer walk. I wanted to write and record this since I am worried he will forget me, like his mother forgot him when she had Alzheimer’s.

Lyrics

I have known you for so long
And now it’s time to say goodbye
Pretty soon and you’ll be gone
When you leave, I’ll dry my eyes

As all the memories – fade away
I hope you know I’ll still be here
Gone tomorrow but we’ve got today
We’ll still remember all these years

Don’t forget me when you’re gone
All the love we’ve known forever
Put the needle on this song
And turn away, it’s now or never

The light is fading from your eyes
And all that worry was for nothin’
Let me hold you one more time
The one who says you count for somethin’

As all the memories – fade away
I hope you know I’ll still be here
Gone tomorrow but we’ve got today
We’ll still remember all these years

Don’t forget me when you’re gone
All the love we’ve known forever
Put the needle on this song
And turn away, it’s now or never

And when you ask me how I’ll get along
It doesn’t matter what I say
Despite the good things that we both did wrong
You always brought me brighter days

Don’t forget me when you’re gone
All the love we’ve known forever
Put the needle on this song
And turn away, it’s now or never

Don’t forget me when you’re gone
