Performer(s)

I performed the song. I played piano & sang live. (Piano was midi so I did fix a couple bum notes). I overdubbed live instruments, guitar, drums and bass. As well as some midi keyboards that I played. (sampled horns etc). No loops were used and no click track. A touch of autotune (shrug). Recorded, mixed and mastered by me in Apple’s Logic Pro.

Description

I was thinking about a friend who was going through a tough time. Basic broken heart. Getting older. Trying to find someone. Thinking maybe he did, but realizing it was most likely a projection. But having the maturity to accept that and come to the realization that love is always a gift. Even when it’s unrequited.

CLOUD
By Caperton Miller

You can get what you want
Or you get what you get
If you can’t tell the difference
Well don’t break a sweat
I return to the lesson I haven’t learned yet
Where I’ll only say what I’m allowed
As I sit here with you
Projecting my love on a cloud

Projecting my love on a cloud

We’re both dreaming of magic
And staring at stars
While the bartender’s
Tending the darkest of bars
Are those lights on the bridge
Or the taillights of cars
Driving back to the homes they’ve avowed
As I look in your eyes
Projecting my love on a cloud

Projecting my love on a cloud

Is this connecting
To what you’re expecting
Or am I just selfish
And simply reflecting

Like a train in a station
I’m stuck on my track
Poke your head out the door
As I’m just looking back
It’s a fact that I’m smitten
The night air is fitten’
For something or other
I might blame your mother
For telling you not to get loud
Even under a thundering cloud

Projecting my love on a cloud

I’m I perfecting
Or simply deflecting
Why can’t we be selfish
Who are we protecting

So go get what you want
Demand all you deserve
But I’ve one thing to say
Once I’ve summoned the nerve

The right angle of love
Is a delicate curve
So don’t follow that trampling crowd
Just look up at the sky
With a trembling eye
And project all your love
At least try
To project all of your love on a cloud

I’m projecting our love on a cloud
