Bio

I was born early 50s in Southend-on-Sea and grew up immersed in the Essex/London live music scene throughout the 60s and 70s. I have been writing songs for over 50 years now and have formed several bands, some of which have been featured on BBC radio. I am lucky to have worked with some very talented musicians along the way and am currently writing and recording a new set of songs featuring two of the best singers I have ever worked with. I moved to the midlands in the late 70s where my collaboration with local musicians, including members of the Specials, continued. I have recorded and self produced five albums ranging from acoustic based ballads to full on rockers.
The song included here, ‘Blind Roulette’ is the latest recording featuring the band I now work with. Called ‘Smoking Buddha’ we are a close bunch of friends who mostly make the music purely for the love of it but, as a result, we have a lot of original songs sitting on the sidelines, and, well, maybe it’s time to get them on the pitch. Hope you like them.

Lyrics

Blind Roulette

Things ain’t what they used to be, someone’s got a tag on me,
They’re bringing in the calvary, I’m lying in their wake.

Shake the dice, a double slice, a victim twice, for half the price,
I wish to Christ, I’d had the sense, to see this coming down the line.

Split the deck, place your bets, see what you gets, another debt,
That ain’t paid yet, and you’ll regret, you gambled on this dance.

We’re playing blind, our hands are tied, we’re spitting dice,
I hope to Christ, they fall just right, when the blinds roll up, when the blinds roll up, when the blinds roll up for me.

We’re playing blind roulette, no safety net, a random bet, best we can get,
Don’t place your bets, Don’t place your bets, Don’t place your bets…on me,
