Bio
From the promo sheet for our latest release, Give Some Kicks:
The Grimly Pleased are proud to announce their second release of 2024, the 10” EP “Give
Some Kicks”.
While the debut record “Here for Pleasure” (released in March) explored themes of passionate
behaviors (both positive and negative), “Give Some Kicks” deals with the aftermath of these
actions. The carousel on the cover represents the overarching theme of “what goes around,
comes around”.
“Reap What You Sow” outlines the very basics of karma, and this song’s lyrics are what gave
the record its title, “If you want to get your kicks, then give some kicks”. Inaction also has
consequences, and “And Now It’s Tomorrow” illustrates what happens to procrastinators –
nothing good. However, when someone does something good for you, it is always good karmic balance to thank that person, and “Thank You, Ben Morgan” is our effort to do just that Ben Morgan (from Boston punk/alternative heavyweights Charmed and Strange) engineered our debut record, and this is our way of telling him he did a great job. Side two starts with “Sweater Weather”, outlining the future we all see coming, when Mother Nature has had enough of our abuse, and turns against us. All can be made right, though, if the advice of “How You Should Act” is followed; not a new philosophy, but a sound approach to our only trip around this crazy carnival ride of life. The record closes with “Collectively Divine”, a testament to what we can achieve by following the Golden Rule.
The Grimly Pleased are a Boston-based five piece band. Prolific? Yes. Good Looking?
Possibly. Ready to blow the roof off any venue or concert hall they walk into? Undoubtedly.

Lyrics
And Now It’s Tomorrow
I’ve been meaning to say
You’re why I wake each day
(I’ll say it today)
And I’ve been meaning to show you
I’ll never outgrow you
(I’ll do it today)
CHORUS:
And now it’s tomorrow (oh, oh, oh)
And now it’s tomorrow (oh, oh, oh)
I didn’t do what I meant to do
I didn’t say what I meant to say
I didn’t tell you I love you
Maybe I’ll do better today
I’m so in love with you
I should tell you a time or two
(I’ll say it today)
And I’ve been meaning to laugh with you
Like we used to do
(I’ll do it today)
CHORUS
You should probably be with a better man
A better man than me
You should probably be with a better man
And I wish that man was me
Have I ever told you
How I love to hold you?
(I’ll say it today)
Today I’ll let my wall down
I’ll make it fall down
(I’ll do it today)
CHORUS
I’ve been meaning to say
You’re why I wake each day
(I’ll say it today)
And I’ve been meaning to show you
I’ll never outgrow you
(I’ll do it today)
CHORUS:
And now it’s tomorrow (oh, oh, oh)
And now it’s tomorrow (oh, oh, oh)
I didn’t do what I meant to do
I didn’t say what I meant to say
I didn’t tell you I love you
Maybe I’ll do better today
I’m so in love with you
I should tell you a time or two

And I wish that man was me
Have I ever told you
How I love to hold you?
(I’ll say it today)
Today I’ll let my wall down
I’ll make it fall down
(I’ll do it today)
CHORUS
