I wrote, arranged and performed everything on this demo recording. The song still needs some work arrangement wise as far as the strings go. I used a keyboard for the strings and horns but played acoustic guitar and bass myself and attempted the vocals but I am acutely aware that the sing needs a better vocalist than me. I would like to some day find the right voice and do a proper recording with real strings and brass.

Description

Since this group is 50+ most of us have probably experienced the heartbreak of lost love at some point in our lives. This is a song about those feelings and how those emotions can remain with us and help shape who we are throughout our lives.

Bio

From Cleveland, Ohio. First inspiration was Myron Floren in 1955 when I began playing accordion (at age 5). Piano followed that and then the Everly Brothers came along and then, of course, The Beatles, so …drums followed and electric guitar (wanting to write rock and roll songs), but I found bass to be the instrument I loved the most. I have been writing, recording and performing original music since 1964. Moved east in the 80’s and spent time in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York City. Had a video out in ’85 with a group called The Doctors that was produced by Broadway Video for a song I wrote called Jumpin’ The Circuit, (which was on MTV). I’ve never gotten rich (or famous, thankfully!), but I have had a Forest Gump- style life that has been more than I could ask for! My son still lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. but I am back in Ohio where I have a home studio and continue to write and record my own music. My wife and I have recently celebrated 20 years of marriage having met when I was skating for a company called Rollerblade, one of many side-roads on the path less traveled. Between us we have 5 children (from past marriages) and 6 grandchildren who we are very proud of! I plan on releasing an album of new material this spring as Six Of One, which refers to the number of hats one must wear these days to try and get ones songs heard. It also references learning to have the ability to see more than one point of view on important issues, and lastly, it is an Am in the key of C!

Lyrics

All The King’s Men

All the king’s horses
All the king’s men
Can’t seem to put us
Together again
Doors that won’t open
Bars that won’t bend
Vows, …once they’re broken,
Never mend.
Once we had more than
Others could find.
Now, we ignore and
Secretly hide,
All our intentions,
Lost in our pride,
go,
Deeper and deeper
And deeper inside.
Soldiers and sailors
Long for a friend.
Lovers and dreamers
Their gardens to tend.
But where will they go at
The end of the end,
Of lovers and dreamers
And all the king’s men.
