Song For You
Had my guitar while travelling and wrote one for the Childhood Memory Challenge. Made a list of my childhood memories like favourite colour; climbing trees; growing up in the Caribbean sea; coming back to the mountains of Canada; favourite song when I was a kid (Patsy Cline Sweet Dreams); early music influences when I was 12 (Allman Brothers and Rolling Stones); and tied it all to my first true love (Christine Coles) who crushed my 11 year old heart. The chorus piece is true, I told my grade 3 teacher I loved summer and when asked why I said “I hate the other damn three” (got me sent home). I also only used the first 3 chords I learned on guitar when I was young (I know 5 now). Hope it works.
I liked the explanation of the construction of this song it was really interesting. The seasons line made me grin….good one!
Really love those lyrics Chris. Enjoyed that👏
Just right Chris
Love the Chorus line “ If you were a storm you’d be raging”.
Great👌👍
Great lyric – really enjoyed it.
This is a great Country song, reminds me of Kris Kristofferson, love your story
So adorable. I love it.
Brilliant song, love the country feel – great lyrics too.
Great song Chris. Nice laid back Country feel. Great explanation of how it came about. Nice one
I loved the story behind how the song came about. Wonderful song – your performance did it justice – I enjoyed watching the performance as much as listening to the song.
Yeah lovely country song. Suits your voice too. The idea of all those conditional similes stacking up is great! And yeah I really liked that storm raging line too. 😉
Fantastic, great lyrics, especially the chorus!
