Myrtle Street

Sir Paul helped out a homeless shelter in Liverpool financially and with publicity through his LIPA charity and The Whitechapel Centre. The shelter help’s homeless people find a safe space, with food and somewhere to sleep. They also help those in need find work and eventually somewhere to live. They have helped over 200 people since it opened. They named the shelter after the street Sit Paul grew up on with his family. Here are the lyrics.

Myrtle Street

Help me find a home
Help me find a safe place
Help me find a job
Help me find myself
Help my failing health
Help with my addictions
Help me back on my feet
At Myrtle Street

I’m embarrassed to ask
Thanks for giving me a second chance

There is a place
I can go
I can shelter from the cold
Build a new life
So I can cope
I’ve found dignity and hope
At Myrtle Street
Myrtle Street

Take away the guilt
Take away the hunger
Take away the fear
Take me off the streets
Take me from danger and shame
Take me from the doorways
Take me where I can sleep
To Myrtle Street

There is a place
I can go
I can shelter from the cold
Build a new life
So I can cope
I’ve found dignity and hope
At Myrtle Street
Myrtle Street

I had sunk down so low
Now the pavement’s not my pi-i-llow

There is a place
I can go
I can shelter from the cold
Build a new life
So I can cope
I’ve found dignity and hope
At Myrtle Street
Myrtle Street

Thank you for helping me find a home
