Maybe Never
A write I finished this morning, and did a quick performance of it. It’s not about my life right now, it’s about things in the past. Breakups. At my age there have been a few.
Lyrics:
Every time I fall in love
There’s lessons to be learned
About others or myself
Sometimes fears confirmed
You took my breath away
A time or two
And oh I wanted
I wanted to be with you
Maybe it was never
Going to be forever
I’m not the love
Of your life
But we laughed, we wept
We placed our bets
And maybe we can part with just a few regrets
I still think of you
And I hope you’re well
Maybe I was not the one for you
At first we couldn’t tell
Don’t let this pass you by
Without a thought
We had a chance
But knew what we sought
I really enjoyed the melody & rhythm of your song, Eric. You had my foot tapping & left me with a positive feeling. ??
This is such a well crafted song. It has an intimate feel, but a universal theme.
Really like this Eric – great stuff ?
“We laughed, we wept, we placed our bets” has got experiential range, rhythmic flow and a perfect soft rhyme hats off to you!
